I know it’s not Wednesday, but I can’t take the chance of my blood pressure shooting out the roof doing another political post today. So I’m going to start off in relationship territory today.

I have two step sisters. One has been happily married for fifteen years to one man, the other is on her third marriage. Recently word got out that the stepsister on the third marriage will be putting her husband out soon. The reason, he doesn’t pay any bills. Now there are two sides to every story. Right now the sides are kind of hazy. A lesson that I learned from my mother and grandmother alike, plus many other wise women I’ve encountered in life, was to always let a man be a man. Simply put, men are ego driven creatures. I’m not saying that in a bad way, but it’s true. If their role as the man in the relationships is questioned or stripped from them, problems can occur.  A man’s ego is precious and is often broken or built by those in his life. If you continuously tell a man he’s not worth ish…then you will create a man who is not worth ish…but if you truly show that man that you believe in him, support him, and stand by him, then you can help him along his journey in life and build something positive and beautiful together. Now there are exceptions to every rule and yes there are some men out there who are content on being less than their worth. With that said…back to the story.

So the stepsister on the third marriage has been with this man for over five years. He has children who are older. She has three children, one who is 21, another that is 18, and another that is 16. All three children are still in the house. She’s never allowed him to have a role of authority in their lives. He can’t discipline or reprimand them when they are out of line. Last year she decided to buy a house in the neighborhood where I live. She asked her father for the downpayment, to do work around the house, and even move them in to the house. All the time my mother questioned my stepdad about the involvement of her husband. During arguments we’ve overheard she throws up in her husband’s face that her father gave her the downpayment for the house. So he’s withdrawn. Often he spends most of his time at his mother’s house, so that he can see his kids. That’s right, they are not allowed in ‘her’ house. She would have family get togethers at the house and conveniently forget to tell him. It’s no shock that the relationship is ending. Do you think that the treatment of the man in the situation contributed to the demise? As women do we sometimes have to step back and consider how we’re treating the men in our lives to ensure that we’re not crushing them. That we’re not preventing them from being the men they are meant to be in our lives?

I’m not saying, that we have to turn a blind eye to the negative. It would be silly to allow a man to control the finances if he’s not capable of paying bills on time because he’s going to play lotto, yet we have to allow him the role of provider. Let him still help make decisions about the lives you share. Even he cannot contribute more than you are to the budget, show him that he is appreciated for the role he is taking. Allow him to do those things around the house, the man chores. Stop for just a minute and the king take care of the queen. Just let a man be a man.

That time again…

Did you catch the Chris Rock special on HBO Saturday?

So today’s big question everywhere I’ve gone:

“Did you watch the debate?”

The reviews have been mixed. A few feel the O man was too cool and others thought that his frustration with McCain and his ways were showing. Over allI fel that he held his own. He showed to be well informed and ready. He was presidential to say the least. Many want to see more from Senator Obama. More fierceness. More willingnes to call McCain out on his blatant lies and disrespect. Still it’s a fine line he walks. I was reading an article from Andrew Sullivan of The Atlantic. A white man who admitted that as a black man he can’t come out too hard at McCain for fear of the Angry Black Man label.

A friend called me last night towards the end of the debate and asked, “When is Barack going to stop letting McCain stop calling him a dumb n-word.” Now I admit the Senator Obama doesn’t understand got on my nerves to the upteenth power. It was unnecessary. For every ounce of respect that Senator Obama delivered, McCain made sure he disrespected Senator Obama every chance he got. Whether it was the you don’t understand line or refusing to look at Senator Obama and address him directly.

What I saw last night was fear on the part of Senator McCain. It was similar to what was displayed by Senator Clinton in the last few Democratic Primary Debates. Questioning the audacity of this newcomer. This baby still on enfamil trying to carve a place for himself in this political world. Attempting to bring to light the needs of the ordinary, everyday man. Energizing a nation of voters and supporters to take part in the political process again. I saw a man who is confused about how this newbie got so far and why he, a POW, and experienced, veteran Senator has to work so hard at this race. I saw a man who rambled on and on and repeated himself continously. I saw a man who was easily miffed. I saw someone that I don’t want making decisions when that phone rings at 3 in the morning.

In Senator Obama, I saw a man who is in control and capable of holding the weight of a nation on his shoulders and not making a decision out of haste. I saw who I want to be president. What were your thoughts on the debate?

This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday School:

How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations?

Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.

Almost a four-year term of a Presidency.

All I can say is “Lord, Have mercy on us!”

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will

be a man, in his 40’s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with

persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says

that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace,

and when he is in power, will destroy everything..

Do we recognize this description??

I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as

you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet..do it!

I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.

Dear Friends,

As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .”we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . .” As with so many other statements I’ve heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I’d see the day that I’d hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation–and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.

I hope that each of you will do what I’m doing now–send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God’s help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!

Please pray for our nation!

It serves as an example of why it’s important for people to be able to read and understand the Bible for themselves. It’s also important to think for yourself. This email has attempted to twist the Bible and use it as a defense against a presidential candidate.

THINK!!!!!!!

It’s not illegal YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanna know what’ so funny?
