First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.

...So that justifies the wrong doing...kidnapping and incarcarating people who were free and not bothering/harming anyone...to be set free a few hundred years later and that's a good thing? Sounds like black people were incarcarated without charges, crimes, or evidence and were left to serve hundereds of years before being set free. For doing nothing wrong, but living in a civilzation of their own.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

...that makes me feel like I should be greatful you let me sleep in a house, yet my ancestors suffered under grave conditions and now I should thank you for your wrong doing.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans.

...I'd say there are two sides to that coin in that no people anywhere has done more to hurt black/African people than white Europeans/Americans/Africans. If slavery never happened in America, white Americans would never be able to say that. I would think that after you saw what you did wrong, you would be able to try to make it better. If you did more wrong than anyone else, then you would have a lot more ground to cover in order to try to make things better.

Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

...Well, those things are all income based, not discriminatory for just black people. There's a coorelation there that exists with a stigma/connotation that says these things are for black people. If black people didn't make up a decent percentage of the people using those services, you wouldn't be able to say they were for black people. Being black is not a requirement to benefit from those tax dollars.

Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants.

...Well let's see. If there was an obvious unspoken truth and coorelation that existed (black people work the lower paying jobs and white people work the higher paying jobs), like the gold ole' boy network would promote, how would someone not born into that system be able to break into and achieve success in those business? If there was no such thing as affirmative action, and the government didn't say this is law, where does that leave us when it's time to make a decision on who gets the job/promotion/benefit of the doubt? How do we rule out or reduce the role that prejudices play in the mindsets of our peers? If the scales are heavily favoring one side of the population unjustly, then yeah it might seem like discrimination when the unspoken truths are addressed in black and white.

Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

...once again, those things are not specific to race. Anyone, even the CEO of Wal-mart can take advantage of those services.

I can't believe this is a man who claims to have religion. I can't believe at one time he attempted a run for president. He's an idiot.

To add to what Macio is saying---Be educated YOURSELF. Be aware of things going on around you, talk to your children.

WE have to stop allowing them to utilize the "We're asking for handout card" Racism is here and will always be here..so what we have bigger issues to tackle. Like Macio said, don't ignore the issue, be aware..but lets take care of home first...and stop making it our primary concern.

I have no words for this..I really don't. It pissed me off into silence. Ignorance and they say it with pride..it makes me sad no matter what humanity (in America) will never be on a equal playing field, and the quicker we realize that, the better.
